I like this editorial in USA Today.
Once any group of Christians gives itself away so completely to a political party, it ceases to be the church. Christians as a whole get a bad rep the way that Muslims do. Not all of them are fundamentalist nut cases out to rule the world, but the ones that are get all the attention and air time.

I just don't understand what warped theology some of these "Christians" have been taught. Have they ever actually read the New Testament for themselves or just taken whatever interpretation they've been given as the true and only word of God? Many of them are so filled with hate of "the other". What happened to God is Love? Gah!

Though I am not particularly religious, I hope beyond hope that someday true Christianity will take the place of this neo-theocratic version that's cropped up in the past few decades.
