Another conviction in the rape-murder of Abeer Qassim Hamza al-Janabi and the murders of her family.

"Private First Class Jesse Spielman was sentenced to 110 years in prison with the possibility of parole for his involvement in the March 2006 rape of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the murders of her and three family members," an army statement said.

They ALL deserve the death sentence (and I'm not even very big on the death penalty). Even if you take into account how unstable ALL of the soldiers are becoming while at war, NOTHING forgives what they did. I'm just glad SOME justice is being served. About damn time.

Yeah, this one hurts to think about, but since I posted about it a bunch at the time, I felt like I should post this when I saw it.

Mostly I try not to imagine it. These are the kinds of things that make me almost wish I believed in Hell, because no human punishment could suffice.

Agreed. I think I might briefly renounce atheism just so I can picture them ROASTING. It makes me feel minimally better. =[

Heh. My personal vision of their hell would be having to really come to terms with what they did - maybe view it from her perspective? Or just know their own vileness? Of course, that's assuming they're not sociopaths and could actually care, so it might not work for Green and certain other heads of state we know. *cough*

But I also kinda wish I could believe in a benevolent afterlife for Abeer. Y'know? She was so young, and she died so horribly, it'd be nice if I believed some benevolent mother goddess or whatnot enfolded her in her arms upon her death, told her it was all over and she was safe, and took all the pain away.

They're dangerous and must be locked up forever.

A recent one? I have not, no. That was certainly the impression I'd gotten from reports last year, and you're right, he's a dangerous sociopath.
