Via FDL: Bill Maher puts one of the most righteous smackdowns on the Bush Adminstration I've seen yet over Valerie Plame. Watch it.

1) HILLARY. [que pompoms]
2) This was a military assasination of one of our own, done through the press, ordered by Karl Rove. He said of Valerie Plame, quote, "She's fair game." And then Cheney shot her.

<--- I actually cracked up at that bit.

1) Yeah, I threw that part of the quote in there for the Hillary-lovers. *g*

2) Random mentions of Cheney shooting people will never get old.

I know, right? Didn't he use to be a right-of-center misogynist? I think somewhere along the way he realized that Bush & Co. were a lot more harmful than your standard passel of politicians. (Also, what used to be right of center is now "liberal".)

His misogynism was more for comedic effect before - he's pretty much an across-the-board misanthrope ;)

Basically, he hates ignorant people. I can get behind that! He especially hates willfully ignorant people.

I think he really got fired up when he was villified and demonized for speaking his mind post 9/11.

I don't agree with ALL his positions (I believe in more social programs than he does) but I can get behind a lot of what he says.

Ah. I'm trying to remember who it was... some author, I believe?... as self-described misanthrope who said, when he was accused of hating any group of people, he'd say, "No no, you're thinking too small." It amused me.

I was watching some other clips of his on YouTube, and there was one where he was talking about how the new Democratic Congress really wasn't doing anything that radical, like universal health insurance. I was like, "... who are you, and what have you done with Bill Maher?" I suppose he may not have been advocating it, but it sure sounded like he was.
