Well, it's OBVIOUSLY warm in Austin, but I was in Montreal during New Year's, and the snow started MELTING. It was ALL GONE. And became bright and SUNNY. THE HELL?!
Thursday morning was the inauguration of the Governor, taking place outside in Phoenix... and it was frikkin hot. Which isn't entirely out of the ordinary but usually we get a *small* respite from frikkin hot.
I think of the tribes living in the north north northern parts of Canada who are losing their land and livelihood from warm weather.
cooler nights, some rain, warmer days, tropical breeze. my memory of winter from my little kid days are very wet. christmas was always gray and gloomy; you knew the holidays were here when the blue skies disappeared. hawaii has two seasons: warm and wet. but the wet season has been giving away to very longer warm ones. :-/
I remember January afternoons in Missouri where people were wearing shorts and throwing frisbees on the campus lawn. Usually about a week later we got a good ice storm.
