Yay!!! That's my Kansas!

Johnson Co. is the wealthiest county in the state (a part of Kansas City) and that means big business and big business conservatives do not equate with religious righters in most cases. This is the kind of Republican my grandfather was and if he was alive today I think he'd be totally baffled by what had happened to his party.

Let's hope this trend of traditional Republicans either becoming Democrats or supporting moderate Democrats sweeps the whole country!

Please oh please, I hope the more level-headed moderates can take back control of the Republican party. I've never been fond of the Republican platform as a whole, but the crazy uber-mega-super intolerant right-wing slant it's taken on these past several years is just plain scary.

Also in Kansas: a state legislator has been charged with battery for tearing the mask off Operation Rescue's president, dressed as a cockroach. The legislator was a Democrat. On the other hand, taking the mask off a guy dressed as a cockroach is not as serious a moral infraction as the Republican ones we've seen lately. It's almost quaint.

Who knew Kansas was that wacky?
