I don't know about you, but the horrible insanity that is the impending legalization of torture in this country has kinda knocked me back. It's the sort of thing that leads to a sense of futility, and a recurrence of that sinking feeling all too common in the last six years that we are headed into darkness. There are some sick people in this country, too. And ways this could blow back on us and make us less safe are mind-boggling: it will further radicalize Muslims around the world. It could make other nations who do follow Geneva less likely to turn suspects over to us. (Like Canada It could dissuade people in this country who have suspicions from turning in their neighbors or acquaintances, if they think they'll be denied trials or tortured. It's a clusterfuck in every dimension.
