I saw a bumper sticker today that made me do a double-take. On the left it said "Right Wing". On the right it said "Anti-War". In the middle it had a hand making a peace sign, colored in with an American flag.
Probably. But someone had to print to design and print that bumper sticker, so they must have seen a market for it, however small.
What makes me happiest about this is that it means at least some people can see beyond the stereotypes and the pressures about what being liberal or conservative or patriotic requires of someone. "Conservative" doesn't actually mean "whatever Bush wants"; Bush is profoundly un-conservative.
It's tiny and rare, but it's an inkling of light dawning.
