The Democrats need to be very decisive in washing their hands of this crook. Corruption is not an ideological issue, and both parties will always have people in them who can be bought. But the Republicans showed in DeLay's case that they are willing to protect their crooks. The Democrats need to stake out their position as the party that doesn't.
This comes from a state that touts that "We like our rice and politics dirty" so I'm not really surprised at all. Louisiana politics is a beast of it's own.
