I am so, so thankful that the person with whom I did a presentation on teen sex for my Adolescent Psych class was open minded and liberal. He's the one who wrote this bit into our presentation: sex is a basic biological desire. It's evolutionary - we want our race to survive, and the only way we can survive is to make babies, and the only way to make babies is to want to make babies. Adolescents are just feeling the biological urge for the first time, and they're making up for the first 13-14 years where they didn't want to make babies. Plus, they don't realize the urge never goes away. It's essential to make sure that they learn safe practices, as opposed to making them think it's wrong for them to be sexual, because who are we to tell them not to think about sex when we as adults do it all the time?

(Am I still bitter that there were only two of us who wanted to discuss the topic of teen sex? Possibly. Grrrr.)
