This? Is one huge honkin' reason I fled the Hoosier state. I will never comprehend how high school sports prowess and/or coaching of same makes anyone an authority on anything aside from high school sports.

I know I personally would last about 10 minutes in Indiana. Actually, any state not connected to an ocean would probably freak me out, to be honest. I have a thing about being on the coast. ;)

The countryside itself is wonderful... but some of the attitudes back home are... well... among the reasons I left, and among the reasons I haven't moved back closer to my wonderful folks. So SoCal is home for now. I'd love to relocate to the Pacific Northwest, and move my parents there...
Vermont wouldn't be bad. I've thought about moving there, too. Northern CA wouldn't be bad, either. Love those coastal redwoods...

I hear ya. That's one of the main reasons I've stayed in the DC area instead of moving back to Upstate New York. The conservative, rural mentality there is a lot like that of Indiana, meethinks.
Northern CA wouldn't be bad, either. Love those coastal redwoods...

It's infuriating for a lot of reasons, but espcially because now all the Northern California redwoods might be gone before I can ever visit them. Whaaaaaaa!
