UN Calls for Guantanamo Closure

America's stance on torture and prisoner handling has come under more intense scrutiny these past twenty-four hours. Yesterday, disturbing previously unpublished images and footage taken in 2003 from Abu Ghraib were released. Today, the UN has called for Guantanamo Bay's closure.

Yup.

And that "they didn't even visit Guantanemo" line is bullshit. Yes, they were invited, but they wouldn't be allowed any access to prisoners. So basically they were being offered the opportuity to be snowed and given the runaround by the local command. Why would they bother, when they can get that in D.C.?
