Thanks for the C&P, that was an interesting article. And I think it reflects the views of those of us abroad pretty acurately.

Have to disagree with this, though:
"Shoot the looters" is good rhetoric, but no lasting solution.
To me this is not good rhetoric at all. All that the unhindered looting tells me is that the government failed to protect the city and its citizens efficiently. In Florida, after hurricane Andrew, there was a curfew put in place, but they at least had personnel there to enforce it. No such effort was even made in New Orleans.

The US government absolutely and totally bungled this in a way I never even thought was possible. And the worst part of it is how they're still not accepting blame. Seeing them pat each other on the back in interview after interview, press conference after press conference, while people are still dying in New Orleans sickens me.

Thanks for the link to the Lott interview in the earlier entry. I tried looking for it earlier, but it wasn't up yet.
