I think I'm gonna just post Katrina stuff on this blog instead of my regular journal for today, because at this point I can't talk about the human side of the disaster without mentioning how coldhearted, disorganized and fucked up the Bush administration is handling it. Admittedly I haven't heard a lot from Nagin but I was just reading this in the Globe and Mail, and was kind of proud of him:

I'm just so shocked by what's going on right now. It's been amazing to watch this situation spiral, minute by minute, into an absolute nightmare. I cannot believe the incompetence. We're talking about the richest country in the world, with more resources, more superior military, more advanced technology, and greater infrastructure than most of the rest of the world combined, and they can't even get some fucking *fresh water* in to the thousands of people trapped in the city? What the fuck is going on? Why is Bush just so fucking... useless? Why is he refusing the help of the foreign nations who have offered to fly in disaster teams, to provide aid, to supply their expertise? Just what the HELL is that guy's problem ( ... )

I am so sick. FEMA can suck it. I can't believe they're acting like nothing is wrong. And God help Mayor Nagin, because somebody needs to listen to him. Seriously, I can't understand why it's still this bad. Mr. Sun tried to explain it takes so many days to employ troops, get supplies to the people, etc... And I'm sorry, but it doesn't. It shouldn't take this long to get help to people ( ... )
