Exorcism and whatnot

On my shopping list for this week:

- rainwater barrel, 500 l.
- olive oil, 1 l.
- plain black swimming shorts
- white cloth, ~6 m.
- gold ribbon or cord, 2 m.

Finally, I'm getting baptised.

Not really swim, no. I looked at indoor swimming pools, but the smallest would have filled half the church, leaving my friends and relations hip-deep in cold, oily water. So this will be a barrel just big enough for me to bend my knees; the challenge will be getting out afterwards.

I can't help thinking of the obscure uncle's complicated demise in "The Wasp Factory" - and buttes of Malmsey. But rainwater barrels can be sanctified too.

They are going to throw you into that thing, aren't they? :-) Best of luck to you two with all preps and such. Looking forward to July... :-)

Yeah, if I fluff my lines in the creed they put me in headfirst; goodness knows what they'll do to me if I say "and the Son" at the wrong moment.

This kind of reminds me of the wedding rehearsal from Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride". Will you have to be going through one, too? ;-)

Rehearse a baptism? I think that would be heretical. Anyway, it's really not that complicated; I just had to calculate my volume to make sure we don't flood the church. And learn my creed.

The really hard part is metanoia, but that doesn't require practice as such, just sincerity and effort - and grace, which they also don't have in the shops here. It's tempting to just focus on sewing my robe...
