In my conspiracy theory foilhattery I'd say that perhaps getting an anti-US rhetoric spouting president elected was a goal since it opens up the option to attack yet another country desireable for control in the middle east.

But that's crazy talk.

In which case, Bush administration demonstrates amazing inconsistency even by conspiracy theorists' standards

First, we name Iran one of the axis of evil and, second, we attack Iran's two enemies, Taliban and Iraq to remove threats to Iran from both sides...

Despite all this tough rhetoric, Bush just does not seem to know just what is going on out there...
