This scene is one of several that takes place in Zaphias, if you return there after the events at after Aurnion. In Kouli's guide, it's the extra event that occurs when you "check the fountain" in the Lower Quarter

Haha, Hanks's line made me giggle. (Oh, he isn't fighting to save the world. Everything that damn fool's ever done has been nothing more than an extension of his desire to save his family. Or to try and keep Flynn alive.)

So Hanks doesn't think that Yuri considers Flynn family? Since he added another sentence specifically for Flynn. But that all sounds true, when you think about it... The whole reason he wound up on his crazy quest was because that mage stole the blastia in the first place, which really hurt the lower quarter.

What no I'm not reading too deeply into things pfft

I think it's more Hanks calling Flynn out specifically than saying he's not a part of the group, but you could also look at it this way: Flynn is called Yuri's partner in this sentence and is also someone who's trying to protect the "family" in question, so... In that sense he's not part of it?? And Yuri wants to protect him for other reasons.
