Strangely stressful problem

I find myself in a good but stressful situation. I seriously overbudgeted for this year and need to spend some money. See, I started in November and had to turn in my budget in May. There were things that had been budgeted for FY '05 that I wasn't sure about, but didn't want to cut them in case they appeared out of nowhere before the year was up. ( Read more... )

Yeah, you really have to spend all your money or you won't get what you need. I had this same kind of problem at another job that I had where we worked with budgets.

What about some electronic database?

Because I'm in a larger institution, I have access to pretty much any resource I need. Any databases I can think of that I would want, I already have access to, and the ones I don't have access to are beyond my budget.

Any options for software versions of the resource books? Lots and Lots of extra office supplies, do you need a new chair? Any seminars? Don't you need to buy all your co-workers an appreciation snack. A candy supply to keep the doctors happy when they come to request help? A footrest, a file sorter, a privacy or non glare screen for your monitor, new trash can, wow, can you tell I was a secretary in charge of purchasing! LOL.

Also, whats the status on the house...still in wait mode?

See, all the "big" items, like furniture are provided, so I can't buy anything like that (I'd kill for a new desk!). Most of the resource books that software versions come with the CD-ROM as a package, and any online books that I think might be helpful are available from other sources. Good ideas, though!

Is there any software out there that would help you to organize/index scanned documents?

Hmmm...that's a good thought. I'll look into that.
