In unrelated news, I had to bring up my main fileserver to retrieve the OpenSolaris & PC-BSD ISOs. Alas, its evaluation copy of Windows 2003 SBS has expired, but I get 1h to pull files off it each reboot, apparently ( Read more... )

Going looking, I found that W2k8 R2 is out & it is Micros~1's first ever 64-bit OS.

Eh? Not even close; are you missing an -only there?

Er, no. Not in 1GB RAM on an elderly-ish P4 3GHz with no hardware virtualisation!

I think I'll try W2K8 r1, see how that goes. 1 gig should be enough for light use & it is a HT chip so it's not /too/ poxy.
