TFcon and stuff

Aug 03, 2013 01:25

I realized I forgot to post my photos from TFcon last weekend. It's Canada's version of BotCon, or rather BotCon's poor cousin, but happily for us it's held in the same city (Mississauga) every year, which is only an hour's drive away. I'm not super-huge into Transformers anymore, so I mostly went to keep Stan company, but I did get a few things ( Read more... )

Hee, cool liscense plates, and that plush Grimlock looks awesome!

Urgh. Maybe the mod was trying to freeze the thread? In general, tho, never read the comments is a good idea

I thought that Grimlock should have won the 3D category in the art contest, but it didn't (admittedly the winning entries were also really good). And I love photographing geeky licence plates, I just hope the habit doesn't look suspicious :>

Don't know. When I looked after my post was rejected, those other comments were still visible, so obviously the mod hadn't blocked them. And I know I shouldn't read comments (I follow a Twitter account with a daily reminder to avoid comments :> ), but I'm masochistic enough to often do so....though I'm getting better at skipping them. Some horrible sites are easier to skip than others.

You did good by standing up, regardless of what the mods did or failed to do.

That's a great article, definitely food for thought.

And thank you :)

whee!
if you're loking for a new image hosting site, you can take a look at photobucket. it was 100% when i joined up, but now they have a system where you can pay for upgrades, but of course you don't have to. You get 2.4 gb for free - the only thing you have to watch out for is that individual albums have a picture limit, but you can always create a subfolder or new album and you're good. Last time I checked they fixed the problem they had with the upload function, so everything works for now.

I've been using Photobucket for years, but it annoyed me so much that I went to Imgur (not realizing Imgur had such a low limit for images). Photobucket seemed to be shrinking down some of my images, and the ads were draining and I couldn't organize albums the way I wanted to. It also has weird quirks like moving my images to unexpected places in the album when I add them, something I find very annoying because then I have to go searching for them. Guess I have to go back to PB, though. I might try Flickr too.

Thanks for the advice!

I remember seeing ads for them on the OC Transpo buses a few years back. The ads stuck around for a few months and vanished.

So the organization behind them's still around, hm?

Yeah, I think so -- they're still running the restaurants. Stan blocked their mailing list so he's not seeing messages from them (apparently he got on their list because his address is similar to someone else's). I find them pretty interesting because it's not often you see these groups run by a woman, and I'm a vegetarian too. But religion isn't for me so I have no plans to join them :>

You can pay for more space, but I don't want to...I'd rather pay LJ and get that image hosting back (it costs about the same). I uploaded 92 images just of Flashpoint Paradox screencaps, so that's almost half my limit there, and I've been using Imgur for photos (which I plan to have around for a while) and to host my crappy art and a few pics for my Tumblr blog. I want some of those to remain visible for a while.

Yeah, I've been a Transformers fan since I was a kid, and it used to be my main fandom for many years. I'm not really into it now because I haven't liked most of the last few cartoons, and the toys generally don't really appeal to me these days. It's also a very fractious and tiring fandom at times, too.

When I looked at my 'list of comments' it says that comment was blocked, so I think it really was blocked. But hopefully somebody had meant to approve it and just had a brainfart. That does happen, but it's still very careless of them.

Hmmm, I'm not familiar with that place, I'll look into it :) Thanks! And no worries, Imgur doesn't seem to make their limitations obvious. I didn't see it either when I signed up.

It's definitely the most drama-filled fandom I've personally been a part of. I know there are fandoms with worse reps for it, but I've managed to stay out of those :P

I don't think there's a forum/platform for talking to the mods. Guess their decision is final and there's nothing to be done about it :\

Neat!

I actually bought an Autobot symbol for the cat but haven't got around to sticking it yet.

I think Stan's bought some Decepticon decals for the car, but he hasn't put them on either. Should make it easier to find the car in a parking lot :>
