I have no idea what the sign is about, I just thought it was funny because it was random/made no sense :>

The best costume was the War Machine guy (IMO), and he won an award from Marvel for it. But the SHIELD people didn't enter the costume competition.

It was a crazy and tiring weekend, but fun. And one of the things I like about big cons is that all sorts of weird stuff happens and people let out their inner goofball. I love the creative stuff, like those guys dressed in the My Little Pony theme. They were just wandering around having fun, and you wouldn't know they were MLPs unless you actually get the references.

Great pics, thanks for sharing! Layton must have been a great man, I've seen the shots of the square covered in chalk messages of mourning.

He was, and at the height of his career -- he'd just taken the federal NDP to their greatest success, as the Official Opposition party in Parliament. We really needed him to combat the Tories :\ I'd never met him, but he was a friend of a friend. And while everybody knew he had cancer, his death came as a complete shock to the public because nobody knew it was that bad.

Things were incredibly chaotic in that part of the city this weekend; there was Fan Expo, Blue Jays' games and Layton's funeral all within several blocks of each other, and the CNE too (which was not so close, but people taking transit to it had to go to the same subway station as the other events). But it all worked out in the end.

Thanks, it was indeed lots of fun! And I got only a sampling of the costumes, that's the great thing.

I'm assuming Abin Sur's corpse was a movie prop and not somebody's costume, because if not, whew, that must have been a pain to get around in. ;)

Yeah it was a movie prop :> Life-size and pretty realistic looking. The Team Rocket dude had a hard time getting around, especially because people stopped him every few minutes to take his photo :>
