Con-apathy

I looked at the status of Anthrocon hotels the other day and saw how fast the main hotel booked up this year. Then, the more I thought about it, the more I realized I wasn't looking forward to it. Or any other con, really. I don't know if I'm just feeling out of it for now or if something changed, but the last year or so, conventions just haven't ( Read more... )

All I have to say is that the Elliot Events arn't worth the money.

Well... what kind of fun do ya like? Get ya started back into suiting might help. What do you think?

I've had plenty of fun at the Elliott events. And they're mostly free, so I'm not sure what you speak of unless you mean travel costs.

Lately for me cons are way to spend time with friends than to "do furry things", if that means anything. I have zero interest in going to a con if I don't know quite a few people there. This is why I stick to AC, Megaplex, FWA and MFF, because those are the cons where most of my friends go.

I guess it also depends on how exciting your life is; mine is relatively boring; it's pretty much work and the occasional low-key local event. So big conventions, an opportunity to travel to awesome cities (Chicago and Pittsburgh are <3) and see people I don't see often makes things a lot more exciting.

I can't wait for FWA.

I agree with you completely. I'm probably not going to travel by myself across the country for some small con where I don't know anybody, in or out of the fandom. I've made that mistake.

Oh yes the Elliott events are fun cause the owner pays people to come into his establishment and perform for him. Very fun indeed.

Traveling and suiting is what I like the most and also seeing peeps that I don't get to see that often. It all works out in the end. I always look foward to EF every year.

Hmmm... Could it be that you have been in the land of warmth and awesomeness (as opposed to the land of woods, life sucking cold and winter)so long that cons just aren't as special for you?

P.S.
I will be down in Orlando escaping the end of winter from May 21-28, if you'd like to meet up
