On Alternate Rhyming Schemes

The other day I wrote a poem for my wife in which the first word of each line rhymed.

After the fact, I pondered that I've never seen such a poem before.

Nowadays, everyone (except ubersecret) has for the most part abandoned form poetry, but the question I have is, did anyone "famous" ever write poetry in which the rhyming scheme involved the first and not ( Read more... )

This reminds me of something somewhat similar similar: an acrostic. This is where the first letter or letters of a poem can be put together to have an additional meaning, or they follow some formula (the alphabet, for example). I believe there are a few Psalms that are like this with the Hebrew alphabet. In the vein of poems to wives, I did write a 5 couplet poem where the first letter of each couplet spelled her name.
