Scratch That, Part 10

Pairing: Pepa & Silvia

Rating: R for swearing? I dunno, I'm not good at this...

A/N: Okay, so I was supposed to post this yesterday morning, but LJ decided to start being an ass again and for some reason I can't just paste things here like I used to... Which means I had to get into the HTML, start placing spaces between each paragraph, which was not only a pain in the ass but extremely time consuming as well... Anyway, I hope it's worth it.

Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting, and just in case I don't update before Christmas, happy holidays to everyone!

Silvia smiled as Alberto opened the door to the restaurant for her, walking in and looking around. It was indeed a very nice place.

She didn’t know exactly how she had ended up on a date with him. It had all started when she went to visit Lola after her conversation with Pepa the day before. She was feeling sad and at the same time angry for caring so much. They had started talking, Silvia expressing how frustrating the whole situation was and how what worried her the most was not knowing where she stood now. Was she gay? Straight? Bi? Only ever going to feel something for Pepa and no one else?

It seemed like those were questions she didn’t know how to answer. Lola’s suggestion was trying to go out with a guy again, see if it was still the same for her. When looking for that candidate, Lola remembered Alberto, a friend Silvia had had when she was in Med School and who had always had a crush on her, but Silvia had never wanted to date.

After thinking about it for a while, Silvia decided it wasn’t a bad idea, at least to try and clear her mind, so she called him, asked him what he was going to do the next day. He was more than happy to hear from her, so they agreed to meet at La Estancia, a place he offered and where Silvia had never been before. And so, here they were, settling on a table near the door.

“Muchas gracias,” Silvia said as Alberto helped her with the chair. Alberto only smiled in return as he sat down in front of her.

“It’s so nice to see you again, Silvia,” Alberto said, smiling at her, “It’s been so long… I pictured you with a husband and three kids running around by now.”

Silvia laughed and shook her head. “No, still a workaholic,” she replied as she smiled.

“That’s always good, as long as you find a good balance between working and everything else.”

“Yeah, that’s the hard part… But if you find the right person…” Silvia trailed off, smiling at him.

“Right, I think that’s the hardest part of all.”

Silvia chuckled, “I can’t help but agree with you on that one.”

They made their orders and waited for their dishes to be ready as they kept catching up. Silvia found out he was also single, working at a hospital and living not too far away.

A few minutes later the waiter came back with their food before excusing himself and leaving them alone again.

“Here’s to good surprises,” Alberto said, lifting his glass as he smiled at her.

Silvia smiled back, lifting her glass at well. She looked at him as he started eating. Alberto was handsome, as she remembered him to be. He was also nice, funny, a gentleman really. But something didn’t seem right, she was enjoying herself but there was something missing. Silvia swallowed; she didn’t want to keep wondering what it was, so she just pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind. She concentrated her attention on her dish as she started eating.

“Oh! I’m sorry!” A familiar voice caused her to look up, her eyes now on the person who had spoken. Pepa? What the…? “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” She heard her say as she placed her hand on Alberto’s shoulder. Their eyes finally met. “Silvia, oh my God, is that you?” Pepa asked her, a smug look on her face. Something told Silvia this situation wasn’t as casual as Pepa was trying to make it look.

“P-Pepa?” Silvia asked, surprised.

“Hi, I’m Alberto,” he said, stretching his hand to her. Silvia saw how Pepa shook it and then let it go.

“Hi,” Pepa said, turning her attention back to her. “Well, I hope you have fun on your date,” she said, her emphasis on the last word making Silvia’s grip tighten. God, who does she think she is? She has a girlfriend and she comes here making me a jealousy scene? Silvia stared at her as she walked away, finally realizing where she was sitting and who she was with.

“A friend of yours?” Alberto asked her, making her turn around to face him again.

“Co-workers,” she replied shortly. What the hell is Pepa doing here with Montoya?

“Ahh,” Alberto said, nodding. He frowned, noticing how Silvia’s relaxed features had shifted to tense. “Is everything okay?”

Silvia nodded, “Yeah, no, everything’s fine,” she replied, trying to look causal.

He smiled at her before slowly moving his hand over the table.

Silvia sighed, trying to get her thoughts away from Pepa but unable to. The way she had approached, how she had made it seem like it was all a surprise to her, making her furious.

She felt as Alberto took her hand in his. Silvia’s thoughts still on Pepa, pretty sure that she was watching them. Silvia swallowed, remembering how it had felt for her when Amanda had arrived at Lola’s and she had to watch them kiss and hold hands. She knew she had two options: either feel bad for Pepa and stop this right now or go ahead and let her know what it feels like.

Silvia sent a smile his way before intertwining her fingers with his. Alberto immediately started to caress the back of her hand with his thumb and Silvia’s smile grew bigger. If only she could see Pepa’s face right now…

Silvia’s plan was working perfectly, until Alberto withdrew his hand. She suppressed a frown before Alberto spoke up again.

“Hm, Sil? You’ve got something here…” Alberto said, pointing the corner of his mouth.

Silvia took the napkin and cleaned her mouth. “There?” she asked.

Alberto shook his head as he stood up, walking over to her, kneeling in front of her before taking the napkin off her hands and cleaning the imaginary piece of food from her mouth.

Silvia smiled nervously at him, not sure if she wanted him this close to her. Alberto smiled back at her, looking much more secure than she probably was. Silvia swallowed as she saw him leaning in. Oh, shit, what did I get myself into? Her mind screamed at her before he connected his lips with hers, gently cupping her cheek.

A few seconds later he pulled away, standing up and smiling at her before taking his place back in his chair. Silvia smiled at him half-heartedly. What the hell was that? She asked herself. “Hm, I-I’ll go to the bathroom, I’ll be right back,” she excused herself before standing up and quickly going to the bathroom.

Pepa watched as Silvia stood up and went to the bathroom, Gonzalo still talking to her about work and some case he was trying to solve.

Silvia entered the bathroom, quickly closing the door behind her. She stood in front of the mirror, making the water run before washing her face.

“Fuck!” she said out loud, looking around, making sure no one was around. “Fuck, fuck, fuck,” she said again, starting to pace around, nervously running one hand through her hair. What had her like this wasn’t the fact that Alberto had kissed her unexpectedly, that had happened to her many times before. It was the fact that she felt absolutely nothing. Nothing. Zero. Zip. She sighed, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Not even a small tickle, nothing!

“Fuck!” she said again, turning around fast as she heard the door open.

Pepa. Great, just what she needed.

“What are you doing here?” Silvia asked.

“I thought we had already established that. I’m eating at the same restaurant you are,” Pepa replied sarcastically.

Silvia sighed, shaking her head, wanting to get away from her. “Whatever,” she said, heading towards the door.

“So, is he a good kisser?” Pepa asked, turning around to watch Silvia as she headed towards the door, but her words made Silvia stop, turning around to face her.

“What do you care?!” she asked, her hands on her hips.

Pepa shrugged, “Just wondering.”

“He’s an awesome kisser,” Silvia replied bitterly. No, he wasn’t, but why did she have to know? Or maybe he was, but he just didn’t to it for her. “Happy?”

“Not really,” Pepa replied.

Silvia sighed exasperatedly. “What the hell do you want from me, Pepa?” she asked frustrated, moving closer to her.

“Nothing,” Pepa replied, nonchalant.

Silvia rolled her eyes, walking over to her, causing Pepa to back up. “What do you want, huh?”

Pepa just stood there, her arms crossed.

“Answer me, dammit!” Silvia screamed, “Do you just want me to stay home, sitting around, waiting for you?!”

“That’d be nice,” Pepa chuckled, getting a slap on her right cheek in return, her hand immediately flying to touch her cheek. “Fuck, Silvia!”

“This is not funny, Pepa!”

“I…”

“Do you think it’s funny, or even easy, being around you everyday after all that has happened?” Silvia asked, frustrated. “Huh?”

“Silvia, I…”

“Shut up, dammit! Just, shut up,” she said, taking a few steps back, looking at her incredulously. How could it be so hard for her to get it?

“Look, princesa, I…” Pepa said, moving her hand to touch her arm.

“Don’t fucking call me princesa! That doesn’t make things any better!” Silvia said, moving to prevent Pepa from touching her. “I like you, Pepa!” Pepa swallowed at her words, looking at her, their eyes connecting. “I feel attracted to you!” Silvia let out, tired of the whole situation, of having to pretend, of having to act tough, like she didn’t care, like she didn’t feel anything.

“Silvia, I didn’t-“

“Don’t fucking tell me you didn’t know! You’re a cop for God’s sake! You’re supposed to be intuitive to say the least!” Silvia said, breaking their eye contact, looking away, crossing her arms in front of her, feeling her eyes welling up.

Pepa stepped closer, searching for her eyes again, but Silvia was looking to the side.

“Silvia…”

Silvia sighed, closing her eyes tightly, feeling tired. “What?”

“I…” Pepa trailed off.

“You don’t even know what to say, dammit!” Silvia said, frustrated. “I’m just making a fool of myself,” Silvia said, heading towards the door.

“Silvia, don’t, we’re not finished,” Pepa said, taking a step forward, gripping her wrist.

“We’re not? So, I have to stay here to keep hearing a bunch of ‘I’s and ‘Silvia’s, huh?” Silvia asked, trying to get away from Pepa’s grip, reaching for the door to open it.

Pepa pulled Silvia to her, making her turn around, now standing mere centimeters away. “I…”

Silvia rolled her eyes. “See? Let me go, Pepa,” she said at the time Pepa wrapped her arms around her, pulling her closer. “I said let me go!” Silvia said, pushing her by the chest, but Pepa’s grip was too strong.

“I can’t…” Pepa whispered, looking into her eyes, “I won’t…” she said before leaning in, finally connecting their lips. Silvia let out a small whimper, her hands on her chest no longer pushing her way, but travelling up her neck, to her hair, pulling Pepa’s head closer to her.

Pepa’s hands were now resting on the small of her back, slowly sliding underneath her shirt, her fingertips brushing Silvia’s skin, causing her to shiver under her touch.

Pepa’s tongue asked for permission, Silvia’s lips immediately parting as their tongues battled, a million sensations running through their bodies as they kissed hungrily, their lips searching each others, never wanting to let go.

Pepa’s hand started sliding up her side, Silvia’s skin shivering under her touch, a soft moan muffled in her mouth as she felt Pepa’s hand graze her stomach, moving upwards, her nipples hardening as she anticipated her touch.

Silvia melted into her embrace, into her kiss, as her fingers played with her hair, not wanting to let go.

They finally pulled back, needing some air. Pepa leaned her forehead against Silvia’s, their eyes locked, intensely looking at each other, both breathing heavily.

Silvia swallowed, the realization of everything that had just happened sinking in. She looked around and suddenly remembered where they were. She immediately pulled away as reality hit her.

“I-I… I have to go,” she said.

“Silvia, don’t, wait!” Pepa said desperately as she saw Silvia opening the door.

“This can’t happen, Pepa. Fuck, I’m here on a date! You have a girlfriend! And Gonzalo… I don’t know where the hell he fits in this picture but he’s out there waiting for you,” she said as she rubbed her forehead, looking at her one more time before leaving the bathroom.

Pepa just stood there, staring blankly ahead. She couldn’t believe what had just happened. She had kissed Silvia! Finally! But now she was gone and she was left here -Pepa looked around- in the bathroom.

Fuck, she had kissed Silvia in a public bathroom? Pepa shook her head. Maybe Lola’s bathroom would have been acceptable, but a public bathroom? Dammit, Pepa, you’re better than that.

She washed her face before stepping out of the bathroom, ready to face Gonzalo as if nothing had happened and watch as Silvia’s date continued. To her surprise, as she sat down and searched for Silvia, she realized she was already gone.
