Thanks for the intriguing description - this book has been on my to-read list forever, but after seeing your rec I guess I'm going to put it on the priority list. I didn't know there was a BBC adaptation of it - will definitely look out for that.

I love the book, too. Didn't see all of the TV episodes, but those I did struck me as very true to the book. Great rec!
