It's been a great three years!

Hi folks,

I've gotten a couple of questions about this lately, and I wanted to let you know that we're not going to be doing another round of lgbtfest this year. It's been a great experience, and although neither of us has the time or energy to tackle doing it again, I'm really glad so many people have enjoyed writing and reading for the fest in the past ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear that, because I've really enjoyed reading and writing for the fest, but I can absolutely understand that you need the energy for other things. Thanks for all your hard work over the past five years!

I'm sorry to see it end, but organizing something like lgbtfest is a huge amount of work and I completely understand your not being able to do it again this year. Thanks so much for everything you did.

Aw, darn! I'm sorry to see it end; it was definitely my favorite fest. (And brought me back to fandom!)

Would there be interest in having the comm stay open as wherenowoman does, with people posting related fic and the occasional open prompt or comment fest? Or perhaps there is already a comm that fits the bill? I don't think I'd have the time to moderate a full fest like you have in years past, but I could probably co-moderate a smaller deal. (This may be naive of me, having never moderated a fan comm in my life.)

Uh, that was supposed to say "where_no_woman", even though it's not showing up as a link in my (old old) browser. Normally when you spell a username wrong, it shows up as an INVALID LINK BLAH BLAH PLEASE FIX BLAH

And because I forgot to say it above, thank you for working so hard to make the last three fests such awesome ones.

I'm glad you commented (while I was typing) because at least two of us are on the same wavelength. ::crosses fingers::

I'd be happy to see someone create a new community that would stay open for posting stories with LGBT themes, even if they weren't up to running a full-scale fest. I think we've really decided to close this community, but I'm glad there's still so much interest, and if you decide to create the kind of community you're talking about, you're welcome to promote it here.

Okay, so call me crazy (I'm sure many people do already, lol), but is there any way we, the members, could keep the comm alive and be able to post new stories to it based on prompts from previous years - even if it's not moderated and there are no new prompts.

Because IIRC there were thousands of prompts. I would hate to see a comm with which I feel a really sweet affinity (especially as I started writing in fandoms I'd never considered before) lying dormant ... ::wibbles:: and abandoned forever.

The AO3 collection is a wonderful asset but I'm still hoping we'd be able to share and write new stories as well to post in the manner suggested above.

Seconded! (Though just in a cheer-leading way, as I have no insight into the practical tasks of running a comm.)

I'd be happy to see someone create a new community for posting stories dealing with these issues, and if you'd like to link to or repost the prompts from past years, or invite people to write stories based on those prompts in another community, you're welcome to do so. I think we've really decided to close this community, but I'm glad there's still so much interest, and I'm happy for people to use the prompts from past years for inspiration elsewhere.
