My Due South Seekrit Santa art for torra is here. Torra requested Fraser/Kowalski and a happy ending. Her Livejournal is in warm tawny colours. I have some Maxfield Parrish art on my walls - fairytale and poster art in warm autumn colours. In the usual way my brain works, I combined these things subconciously and decided to paint Fraser's concept of

How much do I LOVE that you gave Ray and Fraser elfin ears because of the comm name, which was my idea--*wins*

As many DS fans will recognize, it was a line spoken by Gardino that I think Paul Gross said he thought was the funniest line ever in DS. I don't agree, but who cares? There are lots of candidates for funniest line, for sure.

Anyway, that this prompted you to give Ray pointed ears? I think that is the best thing ever. AHAHAHAHAHA...Ray would throw a fit, but they are adorable on him.

Okay, um, I confess that before I fell headlong into Due South, I was a longtime Star Trek fan (still am, really) and I had a thing for Vulcans. So sue me. :)

I knew the line was from the show, but couldn't remember where, exactly (I haven't rewatched all the first couple of seasons in ages).

I had been tempted to add pointed ears several times, but resisted. I own several books on modern fantasy art book covers, and I'm blaming the TSR artists (AD&D, Dragon magazine etc) because they did lots of paintings of elves wandering the great outdoors. Of course, when I saw the comm name, it was fate telling me something *g* (Fate has an ODD sense of humour!)

...and I agree about the elegant vulcan ears.
(I've used my CKR icon lots in the last week, and I don't have any vulcan or elvish icons so I'm giving my other pointy-eared-alien icon a run. She is an ateva from the Foreigner books)

Thanks! It was a great excuse to do some dueSouth art, and to play around with colours and scenery, too1 (normally I skimp on the backgrounds *g*)

Wow. Both are absolutely beautiful but I have to say I think the first one is even more so;) The background is just faboulous. And the boys, hee, cute! (And Dief is great.)

I think these are both ridiculously romantic and lovely at the same time, in the best possible way, I mean that. Like always, you've captured them spot on yet with your own distinct quirky style. The colours are so soft and romantic (that word again haha) and yeah, you did an awesome job of Dief. I also cannot stop staring at Dief's muscled thighs in lilac tights. Hmm.

Ray got a shorter jerkin than I was originally planning because I rather liked the look of his thighs! Though, I can just imagine Ray's reaction to the lilac tights (and braid, and pointy ears) *g* Unimpressed would be putting it mildly!
