This was supposed to be a one-shot. It obviously didn't work out that way. I'm always so nervous dipping my toe into a new fandom.

You had no reason to be nervous because this was amazing and awesome. I can understand why Elise ran away the morning after, she had the impression that he just got out of a serious relationship and that she was the rebound sex. I did love how clueless Kelly was about Elise leaving and Shay being irritated with him. Even though the situation brought out his own insecurities I liked that he still went after Elise, he is so smitten with her and he wants to date her properly. I am so eager to see what happens next.

Thank you so much. I'm glad I was able to write for this fandom because I am always so nervous to try something new - new fandom, new characters. I love Elise already. She is a blank slate since we don't know that much about her so I can really do anything I want with her. Kelly really likes her and he is going to be quite confused with what he is feeling because this is different for him. He is definitely smitten :) THANK YOU so much for reading and commenting!

Okay now you make me really want to watch this show. I'm going to have to have a little marathon of the first 12 episodes this Wednesday...though I've seen the first one. I accidentally saw the 12th episode too though I guess we were having bad weather because its a little glitchy the PVR was acting up so I missed a little but I did meet Elise.

I adore Elise and Kelly and this show and yes, catch up! :D It's the first show I have gotten into since Grey's completely smashed my heart and exhausted me from watching any television. I don't know what it is but this show has pulled me in. Thank you very much for reading!

Ah, Katie! I loved this! I apologize for the late review, but I was trying to get some homework done before tomorrow. I won't have any time then since I'll be at a concert.
Wow, this was fantastic. All of the characters, Severide, Elise, and Shay, all fit so perfectly into their roles. I loved seeing Kelly so gentlemanly and sensitive in this. It was so sweet that he couldn't get her off his mind all day. :)

There were a few parts that struck me, so I feel like pointing them out...

She had never anything done like this before while she knew that in these situations, he was the expert.

“Bye,” it was the first - and only - thing she said to him, barely above a whisper, before she slipped from the room and closed the door behind her.

I really just loved the way you wrote these two lines. The first one, simply because it's true of their dynamic, and the second I loved just because of how it was written. "Bye." It was the first--and only--thing she said to him.. Oh, how I love that

Oh my god, Faith, THANK YOU. You are the expert at this fandom and I get so nervous writing anything besides Mark and Lexie. I have written them for so long and I am still getting a feel for Kelly and Elise and it means so much to me that you read this and enjoyed it.

I have barely written her - we barely know anything about her - and she is a blank slate. I can do anything with her and yes, Kelly is a bit sensitive in this but I always got the feeling that he truly liked Elise - I just think of them cooking together - and I think he would seriously pursue her. I love that she isn't going to make it easy for him. I see her as being shy but with kelly, he certainly does something to her. He just brings something out of her.

I seriously can't thank you enough. Thank you so much for reading and commenting and Shay/Severide are some of my favorite. Shay is going to be involved in Kelly and Elise's relationship lol

I definitely enjoyed this and I know how it could be nerve-wracking moving from Mark and Lexie to another fandom--just cause you write them so much--but I think you hit Kelly and Elise well. :)

I totally agree that Kelly would want to follow after Elise. As to him being a bit sensitive... Honestly, I think he's a sensitive guy. He plays it off at work around the other guys, but I'm pretty sure when he dates women he takes them seriously--even if it is a one-night stand. Though he has been said to sleep around, I've never seen him as the do-'em-and-dump-'em type of guy. He really does seem like a nice person inside, to me at least.

I'm excited to see more of Shay. I love that girl.

Hi Katie...I know I'm the odd one out here. But I haven't seen an episode of Chicago Fire and I would be totally lost trying to read this. I did want to comment though and make sure that you knew I'd seen this :) I hope your day went well!

I glad you did...from what I've read of everyone's comments, it looks like you've delivered another excellent story...not that I was worried. I'm certain you've never written anything less than amazing :)

My day went well. Things are ramping up again, so we'll see how that goes.
