Brother, August in Seattle was one of the most beautiful things I remember.

But there's a reason people are shooting heroin, writing depressing music, and killing theyselves up there in Cascadia.

It's called February. I know, I was there. ;-)

Oh, gosh, that wasn't meant as a dis - Seattle is gorgeous during August, September, and October. It's just the rest of the year that makes everybody depressed and wanting to shoot heroin and commit suicide. ;-)

And that crack was because Pirate and I have a friend who spent her junior year abroad in Scotland and fell in love with the climate. She moved to Seattle when she got back home because it was the closest she could get.

Mr. Darcy loved Ireland for much the same reason.

I've yet to turn to heroin, but it takes substantial booze and coffee to get me through late winter. (In all seriousness, I'm already experiencing seasonal effects, to the point that I think it's time to bite the bullet and get a lightbox.)
