So stop building causes for why you rabidly love/hate something - it's okay to have preferences, it sounds even more normal and less diminishing of your intelligence than trying to gave reasons for it.

*orgasm*
They'll ignore you. BUT STILL \O/ \WIN/ \WIN/

(See? Even Remy approves.)

caro, tutte le volte che conio un rant penso a te, mi onora mucho di averti reso fiero di me fino al climax erotico. Ma mucho mucho. XD

(I bet Remy approves... you know what I'm talking about, especially about point two, don't you..? XDD)

Rantare è bello e fa bene, rende liscia la pelle e distende i nervi, e causa scompensi di pressione al resto dell'umanità XD

(Don't. Say. A. Word. *cries*)

Rofl, if shipping was supposed to be intelligent than my ships would have all failed out of school. And I think when a character dumps another character it makes me like them more, depending on the situation.

People never cease to amaze me with shipping.

I hope things are better for you! Miss you lots! <3 to Kitty as well!

Indeed.. do you remember what I told you last time we talked ? I just keep on bumping my nose on people bitching at the stuff I like with that 'because it's stupid/less awesome than mine' attitude that make me want to choke a bitch. Amusing thing is that people are so obvious in their bias sometimes, my only constisten reaction is teh lulz... XDDD!!

things are..... on a rollecoaster now, I'm oscillating between heavens and hell.. but yeah, I pretty much miss the average ...:/
thanks hon' you're a peach, kitten returns the smooch :*

I believe that a big part of shipping is irrational preference. As far as I've seen, people are drawn to a pairing first because of elements within their taste, and then think about it, whether as a natural process in realizing their own thought process or fueled by irrational need to debate its merits (which totally happened with me and I'm consciously trying to hold back on, ahaha). I disagree about all pondering being bullshit; it's not less valid than meta on characterisation, piecing together hints to guess a solution to a detective story or constructing timeline for a story that spans centuries. And like any kind of analysis, there are "intelligent" ways of doing this.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't believe in Intelligent Shipping, or that being a shipper of something indicates one's intelligence, but I believe in intelligent shippers, who can still be irrational and or emotional, simply because there are intelligent people.

Please hurl a brick this way if I take what you mean wrongly. :P

no no, I totally agree, having smart ideas and dwelling on the even more irrelevant shades of a shipping one likes is an awesome thing, and yeah, I probably worded it unproperly if it gives you the idea that I'm saying 'reasoning is all bullshit ( ... )

I don't think unless you are in the DC fandom and find Donna-hate pretty much pointless, however I cherished in me the glorious memory of some pass-byer I don't remeber the nickname that once claimed in the Kalulu club that it was just natural for intelligent people to gather around this ship since it was.. unavoidably meaningfull..?
* Epic lulz was laughed...*

I'm hella curious about the example you have in mind, and won't mind you to tell anyway... :D

you have a very good point abou the 'teenage angst', and indeed, I was mostly pissed at full-grown adult characters written like... you're right, angry teens. Way to fail, Lool... XDDD

This sounds like the sort of rant that would suit the Harry Potter fandom. I’ve still not had an answer as to why Draco/Hermione would allegedly work after all. And in my opinion Draco has more chance of developing an Electra complex than falling for someone that he considers sub-human.

I definitely agree with your point here. Barbie-shipping is one thing but unless what starts off as pilling pretty dolls on top of each other turns out to actually have a viable relationship dynamic then you have to admit that it makes little sense. One of my favourite completely irrational Saiyuki ships involves two characters who may have never even met in canon, at least until the end where they both end up dead. I find it appealing aesthetically but I’m not entirely sure if it would ever work and I wouldn’t argue as such. Then again, my problem such as it is most likely that if someone suggests a pairing I’ll try to figure out ways that it may be plausible because I’m not rabidly devoted to any particular setup. I do have favoured setups ( ... )

It's not even a matter of 'giving reason for it to work', that everybody can built for any pairing they like - I can give you a whole encyclopedia of fanon-facts that can be brought to support the solidity of the marriage of Mirka and Alessandro, or Ginny and Draco, to remain in the HP fandom - but not to claim a moral superiority because you got a list and you know what you're shipping, as it is implicitly claiming that you are shipping with brain instead of gut and that is, in the majority of cases, a blatant lie.

I think I fall more into that cathegory of fangirls that has a good disposition to enjoy a wide variety of pairings, though being quite monogamous on the real OTPs, and hating like the plague a small selection of them - very oftenly, because some supporters of such pairings pissed me off, one way or another XD;

Who was that character?
good choice anyway, perma-angst is too cheap and quite boring indeed.

WAWAWWAWWWAAWWWWWAW :DDDDD... YES, THAT'S IT ( ... )

but not to claim a moral superiority because you got a listThis is true. I can come up with any number of reasons for some pairing I like but at the end of the day that doesn’t make it ‘better’ than any other pairing. I may well think that the pairing I’m supporting is more realistic but generally everybody thinks that about their pairing so while I may argue that Mirka/Seth is more likely than Isaak/Dietrich the fans of that pairing may well be arguing the same thing. But as long as neither of us start trying to shout down the other we can both go our separate ways peacefully or maybe even get into a civil discussion of our reasoning ( ... )
