personally, i absolutely could not stand 1984 & thought it was bullshit (and i know many people strongly disagree with me on this, but i could care less) i'm not saying the writing was bad, just didn't like the message at all.
i would go for the other one. mainly, cause if i'm not mistaken, its written by Kurt Vonnegut and he's pretty darn bad ass. if its not written by him then i've got no idea. to be fair though i'd always say pick the non-1984 book so i'm kind of biased
