Signups will officially open tomorrow, Tuesday the 14th of February. But first, we need to get the details, fine print, and rules out of the way...
If you participated last year, the rules and schedule are going to look pretty familiar: a couple of weeks for signups, assignments out on St. Patrick's Day, confirmation emails on April 30, and then a due date of June 1. The biggest difference will be that the posting schedule will be shorter, with more people posting on each day. Details on the posting schedule will be finalized after sign-ups close and assignments go out.
Sign-ups will officially open on February 14, 2012 (Valentine's Day!), and run until March 10, 2012.
Assignments will be issued March 17, 2012 (St. Patrick's Day).
Confirmation emails will be sent April 30, 2012, with pinch hitters to be assigned as needed.
The due date for all participants will be June 1, 2012. Daily postings will take place between June 1st and whenever we run out of participants.
The Rules
1. Let's have fun.
2. To support Rule 1, this is an exchange: you receive something and, in turn, you give something. Please only sign up if you are sure you can take on this responsibility.
3. You can drop out at any time with no penalty, however we ask that you be honest with yourself and try to do it prior to April 30th. Pinch hitters are the unsung heroes of many an exchange, and we'd like to give them as much time as possible to do their best work.
4. As soon as your gift is finished, please send us an email confirming that fact. We will let you know your assigned posting date at that time. As in the past, we do ask that you post your gift directly to the community (i.e. not as a link to something on your LJ). After the reveal, you are, of course, welcome to cross-post wherever you wish.
5. RESPECT THE SCHEDULE. The exchange is only fun for everyone if everyone gets something in exchange. I'm not going to rehash the mentions of pinch hitters detailed above, but if we really don't want to have to pull out Plan M. You know, for our favorite hacker's sake.
6. Please stick as close to your giftee's wishlist as humanly possible. Optional details are, of course, optional. But if your giftee has asked for a gen casefic story and you've signed up as stating that you're willing to write a gen casefic story, now is not the time to bust out some RPF AU. Depending on the number of participants, it's possible that you won't be able to write exactly what is requested, but try to land in the general zip code of the request.
7. Please keep your identity secret from your giftee. Half the fun is in the reveal at the end! Please direct any other questions to telaryn (at) gmail (dot) com.
