Wow. Just Wow.

You are amazing. That is amazing. I have no words. Wash and Zoe's dynamic is perfect, just perfect.

And yay wife soup! I know it was a weird request, but you worked it in perfectly.

Yay, you like it! And the wife soup request drove the whole story. Wash had to have "done good" somehow, and it couldn't be just good piloting, 'cuz Zoe doesn't make him soup for that, she just drags him off to have her way with him.

So soup plus techno-babble made for a great prompt, for which I thank you!

I'm glad you enjoyed the prompt, and you certainly got the "done good" down good :D

Really, I love this. I look forward to reading it again and again!

Oh, this is perfect. Lovely to see Wash fitting into Mal and Zoe's world, but of course, in his own way. Great job.

Thank you! One of the reasons Wash is so fun for me to write is because he has adapted to their world, demonstrating a certain level of competency in it. But always from a quirky angle all his own.

Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed this.

I read this whole chapter with a big huge smile on my face. I'm just endlessly, endlessly smiling. I'm all smeary and doped with happiness. I want to go knock on doors and ask people, "Did you see the story with the origin of Wife Soup?" I can't imagine canon being better than this. This is remarkable.

My off the cuff thoughts:

“Ai ya. Women wanle,” Zoe muttered, craning her neck around to watch. Wash could only nod.

I love this image of the two of them flabbergasted at Mal's inability to pilot the shuttle.

Wash started laughing too, and then Mal did,

Also me. I lol'd, for reals.

Which made Zoe laugh even harder, and she looked pretty wild too, the tears from her eyes floating, tiny diamond spheres, in front of her face, the escaped locks of her hair standing up around her head, waving like some underwater plant.

This is an amazing image.

“I spent all my time pinned under Zoe.”

“Nothin' much different there then,” Jayne quipped with a smirk.I punched the air! Yeah ( ... )

Great Wash here! And a good backstory for how wife soup came about too. I esp like whole scene of him having to radio the instructions to Mal.

Wonderful - felt like I was there, pinned between Zoe and the rock, with the bullets zipping past. Perfect Wash voice. Fab.
