Temperature.

I actually am tempted to come up specifically to see them. Realistically, there's only so many time one gets to do so, why not cheat the system a bit?

Well, really, they had emerged in many of the suburbs, but the massive amount of construction and overturning of earth means that urbanmonkey me does't get to see any of them. Even biking through neighborhoods I KNOW have old growth trees I haven't heard or seen them!
