(Note: I am cleaning up some posts that never got published. This one, from mid-last year, was a reply to a leftist on Citizen Tom’s site who wanted to eliminate entirely the influence of Christians from politics. He objected when I called him on it.)

I went back and read the thread.

I see what we have here is a person throwing out the line “freedom of religion” when in fact he means “freedom from religion” - a small but significant difference. Like most modern graduated of public education, he fails to comprehend the difference between the Bill of Rights and the Jefferson letters.

I also perceive that he is not familiar with the second half of the clause - to wit “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” - given that part of what he espouses in fact is a violation of that clause.

Too bad he doesn’t really understand that the clause he misquotes is what protects him from being forced to live under Religious laws that forbid speaking out against “the faith”.

That's a fair assessment of what tildeb offered as his opinion. Scary thing is he claims to be a teacher.
