Thank You to Veterans

War is terrible; it is a sad to realize that sometimes it is necessary. Knowing which ones are necessary is a crucial art, a skill at which some national leaders have shown deficiency.

A long time ago, a strong feeling of patriotism and the honors and approbation heaped upon veterans caused many to join, thinking about their personal status ( Read more... )

Thank you, Sir.

You and your dear lady helped instill virtues in those young men that would lead them to join the military.

People like you serve this country as well as those who don the uniforms.

"They also serve who only stand and wait." - John Milton (the creed of the military spouse & parent)

Thank you, though I must disagree as to the degree of service.

You know, I was in a Las Vegas buffet line years ago, looking at the physiques of the long line of people at the troughs. It occurred to me that from the perspective of the management, "They also serve who only stand and gain weight."

I find it remarkable that anyone would feel it necessary to throw contempt and aspersions at those to whom they owe so much to.

To me it's a strange and irrational mind set that would feel that is somehow helpful to themselves, their community and their society.

I'm watching a similar situation developing with LEOs. Anyone who chooses to join or even stay in that profession at this time is making a remarkable and brave decision.

PS: Thanks for the thanks :)

You're welcome, my friend.

I agree on the police, and note the irony of the war on this symbol of the establishment being instigated by the leaders of the establishment. Sad, and utterly inappropriate, but transparent enough.

It is sad how those who have contempt for the military don't realize that those same people they have contempt for are fighting for their rights.

Thank you all vets for your service. :)

I thank your sons and your family, (because the family serves just as much as the service persons) for their service and dedication.

And, ...I'm glad you're still here.
