I am not particularly familiar with The Christian Science Monitor. It does not appear to be connected to “mainstream” Christianity - and is instead evidently another Obama administration support organ, like MSNBC, but with a religious slant.

You probably remember him: Orv, the boyfriend of the LJ-er formerly known as Rain Luong. The latter, at least, thought the NYT too conservative.

It makes sense that "pro-left" could be seen as unbiased by an uncritical leftist. However, this is doing himself an injustice, because he is filtering out his own ability to judge such things.
I regularly read sources from all over the political spectrum; each has a bias, but each can yet be useful. And the biases become understood, and part of the filtering process, applied intelligently.

I think the real issue is that most news organizations have employed multiple generations of journalists who are taught that governments and corporations are evil, technology is inherently bad and must be carefully channeled to prevent damage, and that people who aren't westerners (who developed the last wave a technology) are noble savages who should be admired.
