I fully agree with your answer. This was a military response to a series of military actions. I wonder how much will get shaken out of the woodwork both by a reconsideration of the correlation of forces and wills and by whatever information was recovered from that compound. I quite suspect that things will get "interesting" over the next six months or so.

I read on Yahoo, that the revolution in Egypt ended bin Laden as much as the bullet did. In just one spring, people in several countries threw off their oppressors without mass murder, something that Bin Laden said was impossible to accomplish. Snap of the fingers, and his entire blood-soaked idealogy was proven wrong. So most of the wind is now taken out of the sails of the various nutbar groups all over the world ( ... )

At my most pacifistic, I believed that justice was just another name for two wrongs supposedly making a right. I still disagree with many conservatives, and even C.S. Lewis, on the idea of justice as balance. To my mind, imbalance anywhere means imbalance everywhere, and it's way too late for mere mortals to set everything right. But I accept that violence can be the only known way to prevent worse infractions.
