[Lithuania has something of a renewed, if subdued, sense of purpose. Not one to sit and mope, he's decided that if he has to be a "fake", and then be forgotten, he will still have a Christmas with his false family, most of which are just as fake as he is ( Read more... )

event, christmas, distracting himself with mundane things, event: every time a bell rings, presents, poland better like that pony

[Koharu doesn't find it until she happens to look the right way on the porch, but she hesitates and picks up the package. It's got her name on it, and she picks up the one for Ukraine to set inside.

She takes a seat before she opens it and set the wrapping aside. The dress...She lifted it up, ran her hands over the belt and frowned. It reminded her in some way of the dress Ukraine had gifted her...but it wasn't the same. Unique. Different?

Polish maybe?...She didn't think he knew her well enough to give her something like this. Koharu carefully rewrapped it. That feeling again. Something important...

She didn't know what, but she wore the dress the next day under her thick coat.]

[The package is unexpected, earning a few seconds of perplexed blinking when it's first discovered. Perhaps in another life, another reality, it would have been the perfect thing to make paranoia kick in, but today it just causes a little bit of caution as he pokes at the package a few times. It doesn't seem like the sort of thing the postman would bring, the way the mochis or his laptop arrived, but it doesn't seem dangerous and sinister, either. There's something inherently peaceful about it, in fact. Something familiar.

And then he takes it inside and opens it because if it was meant to be opened only at Christmas, it would have been delivered at Christmas, not in advance. And he doesn't regret opening it. Because those books, those fantastic books in that language he hasn't seen in so long it feels like finally taking a breath after too long underwater, and at some point he stops even caring about where they came from because they're perfect.]

(There's someone else selling cookies outside the grocery store. It's cold yes, but Figaro sees a business opportunity. He's selling his mantecados to drones and non-drones alike; money is money, after all.)

[Lithuania pauses, a bit surprised to see someone actually selling things in this weather.]

Aren't you cold?

Never got a reply back, so I think I might just say he remembers you. bravabarber December 24 2011, 17:50:26 UTC
Oh, signore Lithuania! How do you do?

(He waves at him happily. He's wearing heaps of sweaters, and a few pairs of mittens on his hands. Hailing from Seville, this weather is a nightmare for Figaro, who's used to much milder winters.)

Si, I am cold, but gold is gold. Otherwise, how will I put bread on my table? Do you want to buy some mantecados? They're delicious Spanish cookies!

Hasn't the town given you a job?

[He looks at the cookies.]

I suppose I could buy a few.

[It's dreadfully boring when no one remembers you, so Fluttershy's spending most of the cold day inside. She's watching Lithuania intently while he does his magic with straws.]

[At least she's in a whole family of ridiculous people who will give away their existence in dreams.]

Do you have Christmas where you're from, Miss Fluttershy?

I don't think it's the same as what Mayfield has. [She twists a straw thoughtfully], but we do have Winter Wrap Up at Ponyville.

[Russia sits down next to Lithuania and just watches him work, without a word or comment.]

[Lithuania is a bit wary, as always, with Russia near, but when the other nation remains quiet, he relaxes and works on his straw snowflake.]
