This is really wonderful. I really liked Angel viewing everyone as being his responsibility - even Spike. That really was his way. And the fact that he would make decisions for people. You really nailed this part of his personality.

I agree with Sera's comments above. I felt there was a lot of exposition, and it didn't read like the normal TKP-quality. The concept was interesting, but the execution felt rushed. I love fics that explore the lengths Angel will go to protect the people he loves, but his actions here seem pretty cavalier, and I didn't really buy it. Yes, he's done this kind of mind-fuck twice, but both times it was to save someone he loves from dying. I don't buy that he'd do it just to spare them the pain and suffering of living. I mean, who loves suffering more than Angel? He'd probably consider it good for the soul. *g* I could have bought it, but it needed a lot more work to get me there.

I see what you mean now about your SSS post yesterday. It feels like this piece was written all in one sitting, without a lot of revisions. Sometimes that can work really well, and other times what you throw on paper needs some editing. I think this is one of the latter. :)

Sorry if this is too harsh. *slinks off*

Not too harsh! I always appreciate your comments, positive or not :o) The whole point of the SSS thing I was trying to get at the other day was: I don't really care. I mean, I see all those problems you and L pointed out, and . . . it just doesn't bother me all that much. I got what I wanted to out of it.

If I had been having SSS while writing this, I'd've addressed these things, particularly the characterization issue. (I, personally find this piece OOC. It's something I could imagine Angel *doing* this, but it'd take a lot more to get me there.) But if I had been writing it like that, it either 1) would've never got finished, 2) a billion other ideas I had while agonizing over it would never have gotten finished.

So, anyway. It's a good thing to learn from, and I see lots of things that can be improved whether or not I do have SSS. But it is nice not feeling like I had to give birth or something just to say one simple little thing!

I agree with most of what you say except:

Well, Connor had a bomb strapped to himself. So I think it was pretty clear that he was suicidal as well as homicidal.

IWRY it was not to save someone from dying. It was because Angel was convinced he should be punished more.

Yeah, I do agree that was a big motivating factor, though he tried to convince himself that Buffy's life was also at risk if he stayed human. But Angel does love suffering. *g*
