Ay ay ay ay ay ay.

This is amazing. You take so many chances here, narratively and structurally, and emotionally. It seems to be that this isn't a story about explanations or resolutions, but it is illuminating nonetheless. And heartbreaking -- I agree with Lynne about Connor's love for the baby demon. It'll take me a while to piece myself back from that one.

What I loved the most and thought was the most insightful were the Quor'toth refrains. I'm utterly fascinated by the character Holtz, and I, like you, think he did horrible horrible things to Steven in the name of vengeance.

How he trained Steven to believe pain and suffering (perfect for Holtz's frame of religious reference, too) is an act of love, of sacrifice to better others? Excellent.

The parallels with the OC/crab demon was just wonderful. It made me ache for that poor boy Connor could have been.

I'd like to add, now that I've taken my guts and piled them back inside (your fic having ripped them right out...in a good way!) that you did a remarkably effective job of making Angel both father and lover during the sex. and in such a way that was...intimate and tender and sweet rather than squicky.
