nnng this is wonderful! You have them talking over each other! And Tony being almost-too-much of an asshole, but also trying to be better, and also weirdly loving and also very skillful! And Pepper being a badass and going after what she wants and chivying Tony along to it and A+ conditions. Tony seems like kind of an exhausting amount of work, but Pepper's been with him for awhile and seems to hold no illusions... plus she loves work, and if Tony can remake himself into Iron Man, I can see being optimistic that he can function in a relationship with Pepper.

Oh, and v hot. Somehow in how this was written, I recognized something very male (that's probably not quite the right way to put it, stereotypes etc, but it's what I thought of) about how Tony had and dealt with sex here.

Thank you! And well, it *is* rather stereotypically male in that he sort of . . . flips her over and takes what he wants and doesn't get her to come (again). But I sort of wanted to write someone who can do that on the one hand, and say 'I'm not good enough for you' on the other hand, and not necessarily make the connection between the two. Anyway, I'm really glad it worked for you, and thanks so much for this comment!

Enjoyed this a lot. Tony's dialogue was so spot-on and witty and nervous, and you make it so clear that he uses talking as a defense tactic, and that Pepper understands this and knows how to deal with it. And Pepper here was kind of the paragon of everything I love about Pepper: her determined patience and smarts and discernment.

Oh, and the sex was hot, too. :) Loved the way it was wrapped up in this conversation and in their relationship.
