Swinging by, so I'm going to answer a few of the first set of questions. Might come back later to answer from the other sets.
How do you use tags? No, this one's not you personally. I really don't get how to use them or what they're for.One answer -- tags work in much the same way as memories, though they offer more immediacy. Say for example you might have a memory category that's titled icons. So first you click to get to your memories. Then you click that category, icons. At that point you see a list of links, entries you've classified under that category. To get to each entry, you then click on one of the links you see

Thank you for your explanation about tags. I still don't really get all the lj do-dads. I should just sit down and have me a good read of the FAQ. But seriously, what's the fun in that, when I can make you do the work for me?
So I can use my own entries on my reading-list as a marker.
That's what I thought. I get so lost on my flist, and I wondered whether friending yourself helped at all. Or whether it was just, you know, a little personal titillation to see yourself on your flist and know that you're your own friend who loves you very very much.
It's usually fairly clear whether she or he does or not.
Hadn't thought about it that way. I think I have phobias about being rude. But I myself love it when other people get in discussions on my journal. Then again I have voyeuristic kinks so it's hardly surprising.
I'd probably wonder what's up that spurred them to choose to make that comment and say nothing else. It's because they loved your story so much they couldn't stand to see a typo blemish it. And because they think

How often do you change your bio? - I don't. What's there is what i put up when i signed up..and in truth, I never even look at it. How do you use tags? No, this one's not you personally. I really don't get how to use them or what they're for. - I dont' use tags. Like you, I dont' know why they are there, or what they are for. Besides, I'm lazy. How do you get to your journal-is it in your favorites? Is the link there your “recent entries” page, your user page, or your “my lj” page, or what? - You know the little drop down menu in hte address bar? That's where it is. Too lazy to keep typing it in, and I've never even thought of 'bookmarking' it. Heh. Why do you have yourself friended? - I don't. Although I should, because I am my best friend. Heh. Do you ever have trouble finding the button to click to add someone’s post to your memories? - No, cos I don't memory posts. But I often forget how to post to communities... How often do you check your flist to see if someone’s added you? -

Although I should, because I am my best friend. Heh.
I love your positive attitude. It wakes me in the morning with its tendrils of effulgent warmth.
Cos the original poster will be getting all these emails in her email box, and seeing 1000 comments on her post and get all excited thinking people are talking to her, and it turns out it's just me and some other person.
I know! That's why it worries me, too. But when other people are discussing things on my journal, it's like hosting a bordello. I get to watch people have sex and if I want I can join in, no questions asked! Er . . . or something.
And one word comments dont' bother me, cos there are times when I want to respond to someone's post and have no idea what to say other than to agree with waht they said, or express sorrow if htey are having a hard time. I'm always afraid people will not know I really am thinking about them if they're going through a tough time if I just say something like: "good luck." The end result is I rarely comment when someone posts about

I"m like you - not sure what to say. Their dog dies? I feel I should say more than just 'sorry your dog died' - but what? A huge emotion laden post about the grief one goes through? Gah. I do think of them and feel sympathy wehn someone has something awful happen to them, but i rarely comment about it, simply becaue i dont' know hwat to say. It's hard enough doing it in Real Life, let alone in a text based format.
Are there any fics out there about Anne (formerly Lily, formerly Chantarelle)? - hope not. wait. buffy used the name 'anne' when she ran away - did chantarelle use it too???
Did anyone besides me really love Kate Lockley? - Big fat no.
Whatever happened to the Ripper spin off? - dont know, but i really wish it was back on. i keep thinking of the show "She Wolf of London" ( a show that quite possibly I'm the only person in the world who remembers it) when I think of Ripper. It would have been fantastic.
Is there even the remote possibility of a Faith spin-off? - Nope. She's off doing other things. What those things are, I have no idea. Although there is still talk of the Spike movie.
Is there even the remote possibility of the cartoon? - Hope not. unless they do the graphics like Final Fantasy...
I loved "She-Wolf of London." I was great... then BBC dropped it and it came to America... changed it's title to "Love and Curses" and died. The costumes were campy, but the storylines were actually pretty good...
And I loved the British humor about the main female character being named Randy. The shower scene after her first night as a werewolf?
OMG someone who actually remembers the show!!!!! thank you thank you!! LOL. I didn't like it when they moved to America - I much preferred the British shows. I did love however, that whenever Randy and Ian got even close to doing the deed, she turned into the werewolf. Cracked me up. A few years back, it was showing on one of the cable channels over here, and I taped a bunch of them. Unfortunately, video tapes dont' survive in teh tropics very well - mould being a constant problem. So while I still have the tapes, some of them are unwatchable. *sigh* how i wish they'd release it on dvd box set.
Long response... ::: deep breath :::veraklonDecember 1 2005, 14:53:39 UTC
I want someone explain comic books to me. I was really into X-men comics in preteen years, but one of the reasons I kind of dropped it was because I got confused (also, I got too tall to be comfortable sexing up with Wolverine and realized I would never have boobs like Rogue's. When you're 11, you still want boobs like Rogue's, even though you figure out by 12 NO ONE has boobs like Rogue's. Or even wants boobs like Rogue's, because ugh, back pain). There seemed to be so many different series all going on at once; I couldn't keep them straight. I didn't get the difference between Uncanny, Astonishing, and Amazing. Isn't there like . . . a diagram for these things

Re: Long response... ::: deep breath :::letteredDecember 1 2005, 18:45:50 UTC
Thank you! This has been bothering me for a decade. Then again, I couldn't even keep up with the X-men cartoon (the old school one) back in the day (missed an ep and got lost . . .). That show was kick-ass. And it had a good song.
In my opinion, the real reason for all of the titles is they often run a single storyline through ALL of the titles, so if you start with Uncanny, you then have to move to New to read the next part, which then goes to Astonishing, then back to the original title. Otherwise, you're missing the larger story.
But aren't they numbered within the title? So like if you read Uncanny straight through consecutively, you're missing the large chunks of the story that were continued in New and Astonishing? Or are they all treated as one big set, with Ultimate a completely separate sub-set?
If you wanna start reading again, now might be the best time.I'd like to, but I doubt I have the time or money. I'm really interested in the ones Whedon wrote though. I'm fascinated to see what he would do with those

As for the Astonishing X-Men that joss Whedon wrote, you can get the whole thing in either one or two collections, called trade paperbacks. Excellent story

Jean Grey has died and come back several times before. Colossus has stayed dead for several years now.
They could never keep Jean dead, even if they tried. I remember Peter sacrificing himself to stop the Legacy virus in some thread or other, but everything is very vague in my head, and I might be mixing that up with something else.
Uhhmm... Professor X is gone.
Whoa, sadness. Thanks for the update. I'm definitely going to try to make time to read the JW-written ones.
The death of TKP might start in Uncanny #589.
Dude! Have to get that one ;o)
I have heard rumors of an Angel comic that came out recently that comes after Not Fade Away, written by Joss. You heard anything?
No, but that's not saying much. All I know about is Tales of the Vampires, Tales of the Slayers, and Fray, and I've never read any of them. Whedon did recently alude to a comic series he might write about Buffy and the Immortal, and that's the latest I've heard.
How often do you change your bio? Um... I've changed it once? I would change it again if I had any creative ideas.
How do you use tags? I think they're really good for finding all posts of a certain type that you're not bothered about putting in memories. Or, you know how you sometimes get "Error: memories temporarily unavailable"? Some people use tags as an alternative for those times.
How do you get to your journal? I have the LJ login page in my faves.
Why do you have yourself friended? I don't, and I've often wondered this about other people as well. It's off-putting enough when I see posts I've made in communities on my friends page.
Do you ever have trouble finding the button to click to add someone’s post to your memories? Hee! Yes. Some people's layouts are confusing! But I recently wiped out my memories and am now saving most links elsewhere, so I don't really worry about that anymore.
Do you feel it’s impolite to have long conversations with someone on someone else’s journal? I think it is in a way and I tend to

But I recently wiped out my memories and am now saving most links elsewhere,
Mind my asking where? The only place I can think of is 'favorites', and I already have 10 bajillion links there. I wish I had a way of organizing all these things I keep telling myself I need to go back and read but probably won't but must keep to make myself feel better.
LJ isn't the easiest setting to just go "hey, let's take this elsewhere"
That was one of the main reasons I stayed away for so long. I enjoy private conversations, and it's difficult to have them on lj.
There's definitely some Gunn/Anne out there. I don't know if I have any bookmarked... I'll see.
I'm more interested in gen Anne, but I'd love you up for links ;o)
rabid fangirl love, but no, I thought she was awesome.Yeah, I don't fangirl her either. In fact, love was probably too strong a word. But I just . . . like her. I thought she was excellent as a love interest for Angel, and I liked the way her story played out. I thought it was really realistic. I was sad they didn't
( ... )
I have a private back-dated LJ entry where I've c/p'ed all my links. It's more work to put links there than just selecting "add to faves" or pressing a memory button (and took a long while to put all links already in memories there) but I like it because I can change it around and organize it as I choose (I find the memory function really awkward - I prefer subcategories, etc.) and have started going through the links to actually write little summaries next to them in the post, which I think will make it easier to remember what's what in the long run.
I'd love you up for links
I unfortunately can't seem to find any, but you seem to have been linked by other people...

? Er . . . yes. At the end of the ep "Anne" Lily asks if she can use Buffy's name. Then she shows up on AtS S2 as Anne.

I like cartoony graphics, if it's going to be completely animated. The graphics of the latest FF games (and the movie *shudders*) look dull to me.
