You already know that I think this fic...like everything you write...is prose worthy of praise. I am continually amazed by the stylistic risks you take...you do first person as if you inhabit the skin of the character, you write poetry as prose, you stand back and watch the characters- detatched but ever-present, you write funny stuff and gut-wrenching stuff with equal skill.

Jealous over here.

And very, very happy with your contribution to this marathon.

So are you gonna go to WriterCon or what?

Again, thanks for lovely fb. You just pin-pointed everything I ever really want to do with my writing, and told me I did it, which just...means so much.

If we both make each other jealous, does it cancel out?

I doubt I'll go to WriterCon. Mostly because I doubt I'll have money. I also find the idea rather scary, as I tend to be quite shy.

squues!

Love this, I love the language you use here.

But what I really love is the juxtaposition of what happens when each of them returns. When Angel comes back, it strengthens their ties because for him the world is her. She is his animus.

When Buffy comes back, it's the opposite. He has learned to live for himself, to be his own person. And, as a result, Buffy can't be helped by him.

Wonderful.

Thank you!

He has learned to live for himself, to be his own person.

germaine_pet (I think?) once said that she doesn't think B/A works post NFA because Angel and Buffy are both such alphas--back in BtVS S1-3 Angel was content to exist in Buffy's shadow, but he wouldn't later on. And while I think some B/A action is possible post-NFA (though not necessarily HEA), I do tend to agree that what Angel needs from Buffy really changes over the course of AtS. She was once his whole reason for fighting. Later, she's just the reason he started it.

Anyway, I'm glad what I was trying to say with how they fulfill each other or not came through, and I'm glad you liked it.

argh. damn lj swallowed my comment.

Anyway, it was GP.

Here are my thoughts. First off, he was with alpha Darla for 150 years and they worked it out. He might have been the scourge but she was the pestilence behind the scourge, so to speak. Leading me to belive that he prefers to be bossed around by women.

Plus, I do know rl couples where both are alpha and it seems to work. There is the occasional throwing things at the other person's head, but it's mostly workable. Plus very passionate (at least that's how it appears).

Well, like I said, I don't really think that them both being alphas is going to stand in the way of a relationship between them. I do think that what Angel needs from Buffy changes, because he does become more independent later on, and that that would be hard for Buffy in some ways.

Loved this fic. I haven't read many stories that explore the similarities and differences between Buffy and Angel's respective deaths and resurrections. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere you created with your choice and use of language. Great look into what each of them were thinking and feeling in each situation. Well done.

Thank you! It really struck me how different B/A after Angel's return from Hell was from B/A after Buffy's return from Heaven. Though there are weird similarities too which cause my mind to boggle.

And this is probably the wrong place to pimp, but if you haven't read it, Jo did an excellent fic that deals with some of the same stuff: Pluperfect.

Thanks again. I'm glad you liked it!

Aww! A pimp for 'Pluperfect'! Thank you, my dear. (The cheque will be in the post...) :~)

Great! I'll use it to buy a velvet hat and cane with a gold knob to complete my pimp outfit.

This is really beautifully done. The layered, experimental style is balanced effectively with sincere, emotional substance; not an easy thing to do at all, I imagine, but you make it look easy. I'm not particularly a fan of this pairing, but you helped me love it all the same. And you have a true gift with language.

Lovely, lovely work.

Happy writer dance over here. It's so fulfilling to show others what I love, and to make them fall a little bit in love as well.

I hope you don't mind if I friend you. I've been meaning to read your fic for a while now; it comes highly recommended.
