Fic: The Tinder Box (Spike/Drusilla)

Dec 03, 2012 18:08

I've enjoyed so many diverse stories in the Buffy fandom, I thought I would try to contribute one myself. The attempt has been both fun and instructive, from researching the folklore to learning how to post in my own LiveJournal. Anyway, here's my contribution to Let's Get It Done:

  • Title: The Tinder Box
  • Author: oni_9
  • Pairing: Spike/ ( Read more... )

I really enjoyed this - it's very hard to write Dru well, and you've done a fantastic job!

This was absolutely wonderful. I love the way you write both Spike and Dru. In fact, all the character voices are spot on. The dreamlike atmosphere is terrific too.

One of the most original, enjoyable stories I've read all year.

I'm so glad you posted this, it's fascinating. And I agree the character voices are really good - not just Dru (though she's very difficult to capture and you've done it extremely well) but also people like Giles, Willow and Xander.

Welcome to the fic writers' guild!

    What a beguiling story!

The character voices are perfect - Xander's silly annoying jokeyness, Giles' impatient but loving in-spite-of-himself efforts to focus Xander and Willow's energies, Willow's early need to keep everyone happy. Most of all, the relationship between Spike and Dru, which is really hard to show without becoming either fey or grotesque, is beautifully illustrated throughout.

And an original tale, with a real sense of place without lots of description. Really enjoyed this - thank you!

Very well done. Loved all the lavish locations, the Dru-madness and the lovely Spike/Dru interactions. As others have said, the voices were spot-on. My only complaint is the shortness of this piece!
