I disagree. You know I love the gays. But I have no issue with him leaving, because he simply performed poorly and his attitude irks me. And that I say, has nothing to do with his sexual orientation. It's kinda like how I feel for Kady, just not as bad coz I love Danny's face. And I am not surprised if people feel the same as me.
And I must add, the judgment of whether he performed good or bad is up to the individual. I adore every single one of Syesha's performances, but I know some people find her boring.
I don't know. I'm sure this (i.e. homophobia) is the reason he didn't receive votes from SOME people, but I don't know if it's an accurate blanket-statement. I think plenty of people did not like his performances or even didn't like his personality. I thought he had a good voice but didn't display it in the best way, and I found him more obnoxious than endearing. I am the least homophobic person you could find, yet I didn't vote for him because I was supporting the contestants I actually liked.
i think this is absolutely the reason some people didn't vote for him, and I don't think that can be discounted- it sucks. it's just that it's hard to parse out what percentage, how much difference it would have made. he didn't do as well as some others, or as well as his potential might have suggested, and that undoubtedly cost him votes from complete non-homophobes. i truly do wonder what might have happened had he given flawless, melinda-doolittle-level performances...that would have brought it down to the wire, perhaps.

And David Hernandez's scandal of being a gay stripper was all over and he still got into the top 12.

I think he got voted off because others were better, and he was an obnoxious little bitch. No one's gonna want their American Idol to be someone who probably won't be nice to them if they meet them on the street.
And David Hernandez's scandal of being a gay stripper was all over and he still got into the top 12.
