Note that this article was written by an American...in light of all the badness that's been going on with our beef and SARS and whatever else, it's nice to see someone in the media in the US that isn't making us look scary :).

I sent the author of the article an e-mail, saying thank you, and that those of us who read it probably stood a little straighter and had our chests swell a little bit. :)

Although there are still some things I don't agree with that our government is doing, I'm just thankful we don't have some wacko right wing religious prime minister.

I liked the article - thanks for posting it! One bit really got me thinking:

"..Canada's government isn't influenced by large, well-organized religious groups and thus has more in common with those of Scandinavia than those of the United States, or, say, Iran."

I've never thought to compare countries by the interest groups that influence their policies, rather than by the policies themselves.
