Hmm, that is (probably among other things) a Loreena McKennit song, isn't it?

Not quite -- there are some similarities but "The Water is Wide" is English, whereas the Loreena McKennitt version, "Carrighfergus" is Irish. Their lyrics only coincide for that one verse. Also, the tune is different. Good call, though -- I hadn't even noticed that.
