I am so sorry if I hurt you. I never meant to do or say anything that would hurt you.

Surely whatever I did or said to you doesn't deserve this treatment. I am so sorry you think it does.

But mostly I am sorry that it ended.

My mind is a strange thing. I have an amazing memory but I doubt the veracity of it too often. There are so many puzzles in my past. So many unanswered questions.
