Yes, sometimes a smile is not a smile but a mask for the pain you must carry and a defiance to those that would choose to make your frown. I'm glad you can dance in spite of this. Hey, at least you can dance, not something particular in my skill set.
I say, if you are strong willed enough, better to live a life of intentionally naivete and keep yourself open to the possibility that things will always get better around the corner. Hope is an essential part of the human condition and as you said in an earlier entry, the future president prominently mentioned gay rights in his acceptance speech. Just keep the faith, check the tattoo time to time for strength, and dance, definitely dance.
