I decided that I'm gonna go and watch Iron Man on Friday after work...all by my lonesome. It just happened that the small handful (I do mean very small) of people that I usually ask to go to the movies with, are unavailable next week, as well as for the next few weeks (work, lack of moolah, various personal reasons). So I got tired of waiting

I went to see the first Harry Potter movie alone--I don't think anybody noticed or cared, but when I bought the ticket I was like 'One for Harry Potter' and the chick selling the tickets looked at me and was like 'One?'

Yes, older people (and by 'older' I mean like 16) can go see Harry Potter without children in tow. :P
